Flu Shots:
If you don’t care about Return on Investment…..don’t read any further. Flu shots are an excellent health benefit that provides you and your employees with a great return on investment. Keeping your employees healthy has many benefits including reducing lost time, reducing overtime costs, avoiding lost profit opportunities, and minimizing medical costs.
On-Site Flu Shots:
Occupational Health Partners can come on-site to help vaccinate your workforce. We do require minimum numbers for on-site vaccinations and volume discounts are available. Unlike many providers, we don’t charge a separate nurse hourly rate, nor do we charge a set-up fee. We often can deliver our on-site services for less than the county health department charges for a walk-in flu shot. While most flu shots are given in October and November we encourage you to place your order no later than August to guarantee your order.
Do you think Health Promotion is a waste of money? Consider that many programs are standardized and built for the lowest common denominator. Custom programs yield better results…
What do a 54 year old male and a 22 year old female have in common when it comes to their health care needs? Not much, yet most health fairs try to sell you a standard package regardless of your individual employees needs.
Our health fairs are unique in that we start with a Health Risk Assessment to identify common illnesses and concerns. We can then tailor our services around each employee. This way, a 54 year old male with diabetes and a history of heart disease would have more comprehensive testing than a 22 year old female with no medical problems or risk factors. This helps your “high risk employees” stay healthy and productive, while helping you lower your health care costs. We also offer on-site nursing programs to meet one-on-one or in group sessions with employees who have medical problems. This helps keep illnesses under control, decrease sick days, injuries and time away from work.
Our on-site health fairs help your employees stay healthy and productive. They are a great way to help diagnose and monitor many common medical conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity. Improved control of these illnesses helps your employees reduce complications from these diseases, and results in fewer sick days, injuries and time away from work. Our on-site vaccination clinic helps to not only keep your employees healthy through the flu season, but also reduces their risk for tetanus, hepatitis and pneumonia.
The key to health fairs is follow up. Ask us for more information on our specific corporate programs to ensure employee health. For more information on any of our services outlined below, please call our office at (919) 661-0801 and ask for our Health Fair Coordinator.
Travel Medicine
Don’t ruin your trip…
If you want to get the most of your next international trip, you need to stay healthy. That’s where Occupational Health Partners can help. We have all the medical and health information you need to keep you healthy for your next international trip. Given the amount of planning, time and expense you incur to travel, the last thing you want to do is get sick overseas. Obtaining the recommended immunizations is one way to make sure you have a safe and healthy trip.
It’s ideal to schedule an exam between 4 and 6 weeks before your next trip, as some vaccines require several doses. Our exam will help make sure that all of your vaccinations are up to date. Depending on your travel destination, you may need one or more of the following vaccines:
Hepatitis A is a very contagious liver disease caused by contaminated food. Complications may include nausea, vomiting, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), fatigue and weakness.
Hepatitis B is passed through sexual contact, contaminated needles (tattoos, IV drug use), and blood transfusions. Hepatitis B can cause scarring of the liver, increased risk for liver cancer, liver failure and even death. It can be a lifelong infection. A simple vaccine can help prevent this disease.
Influenza is a leading cause of missed days from work in the United States. A bad case of the “flu” can cause an employee to miss a week or more of work. Fellow employees are more likely to become sick if they come in contact with someone who had influenza. An annual vaccine is the easiest and most cost effective way to keep your employees safe during the flu season.
This potentially deadly disease is spread via mosquitoes. Travelers to Southeast Asia and the Far East should inquire as to whether or not they should receive this vaccine.
Bacterial Meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes covering the spinal cord and brain. College students or other people living in close proximity are at a higher risk of developing the disease. A meningitis vaccine is the best chance to help avoid this deadly disease.
This is also known as the whooping cough, and is a highly contagious disease. It is one of the leading causes of vaccine-preventable deaths worldwide. Most cases occur in developing countries.
A pneumonia vaccine is indicated for people over the age of 65, or individuals with a history of chronic cardiopulmonary disease, diabetes, or asplenia.
Polio is a very infectious virus transmitted via human-to-human contact. The virus can cause paralysis and flu-like symptoms. The vaccine is typically administered to children and much of the world has been declared polio-free. Travelers to Africa and the India sub-continent need to be sure they are vaccinated.
Cuts or wounds can expose a person to Tetanus/Diptheria. A simple vaccine every 10 years can help prevent complications from the disease, including breathing problems, paralysis and even death.
Typhoid is a potentially fatal disease and is common in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Its symptoms include high fever, chills, lack of appetite and headache.
This vaccine protects against the acute viral hemorrhagic illness. It is usually spread by mosquitoes, and its symptoms include fever, headache, bloody vomit, and possibly jaundice and seizures. Travelers to Africa, South and Central America, and the Caribbean are at risk.
Plus, we offer:
• Anti-diarrheal medication
• Anti-malarial medication
To help keep you healthy our services also include a personalized set of tips tailored to your individual health needs and the region to which you are traveling.
Naturalization can be a difficult process, but we can at least help make one step easier.
Why choose Occupational Health Partners?
• Convenience: We offer same day appointments and have 5 clinics in the Raleigh/Durham area to better serve our clients
• Experience: Dr. Fernandez has been an authorized USCIS Civil Surgeon since 2001 and has performed thousands of medical exams. Having been through this process himself, he understands firsthand what his clients are going through.
• Service: Our staff is known for their outstanding service and commitment to our customers. We take the time to individually advise each applicant on their case and specific vaccine requirements before their appointment. This results in fewer visits to our office and decreased costs. Each applicant is also given a copy of their medical records and vaccine history.
• Cost: Our prices are lower than what other clinics charge for similar services. We also take the time to let clients know what other specific vaccines or bloodwork they will need prior to their appointment.
• Bilingual: Dr. Fernandez is fluent in both English and Spanish.
If at any time you have any questions regarding the exam, or need more information, please call and speak with one of our trained immigration health specialists at 919-661-0801.
• Why are medical exams needed? Medical examinations verify good health and admissibility to the United States on medical grounds. The exam can identify medical conditions that require follow-up medical care after emigration to the U.S. or adjustment of status to permanent residence.
• What form is needed for the medical exam? Occupational Health Partners will provide all necessary forms.
• What do I need to bring to my medical exam? Bring your unexpired passport or other form of government issued photo identification and any written documentation of your vaccination history.
• What is included in the medical exam? Physical exam and a mental status evaluation
Serologic (Blood) Test for syphilis (ages 15 and older)
No additional fees for nursing or administrative purposes
• What are the vaccination requirements? Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Polio, Tetanus, Diptheria,
Pertussis, Hepatitis B, Influenza
Note: Do not try to fulfill your vaccination requirements before you meet with the Panel Physician or Civil Surgeon, in case it is not medically appropriate for you to have one or more of the required vaccines.
• What if vaccinations are contrary to my religious or moral beliefs? If you have firmly held religious or moral beliefs that do not permit vaccinations, you may still be eligible for adjustment of status. You will need to apply for a waiver of vaccination requirements.
• What happens if the Civil Surgeon finds a health problem? If a health problem is diagnosed that makes you inadmissible, you may still be eligible after completing treatment for the condition. In some cases, you may be eligible after applying for a waiver to overcome the inadmissibility.
• What if I have other questions regarding the medical exam? You may call our office at 919-661-0801 and speak with one of our trained immigration health specialists, or visit the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov
Corporate Medical Director Services & Medical Staffing
Occupational Health Partners also provides corporate medical consultation on key healthcare topics such as regulatory compliance, workplace safety, absence management, health and wellness promotion, national healthcare coordination, and health risk management. Most services can be performed cost effectively on-site.
Medical Director Services
One approach to meeting your needs is to have an experienced senior Physician on-site at your firm on a part time basis. This type of engagement focuses on key performance indicators and is measured to ensure intended results are delivered to all parties.
Medical Staffing
An alternative economical approach is to place a PA or RN on-site at your workplace under the direct supervision of an experienced and qualified physician. Whether you are interested in an on-site urgent care clinic, have workers’ compensation concerns, or just need a qualified COHN or RN at your facility, this allows you to achieve greater coverage at a lower cost. These programs are highly customized to your individual needs. Please feel free to give us a call so that we may better evaluate potential solutions to your situation.
At Occupational Health Partners, we take a unique approach to healthcare. By focusing solely on occupational medicine, we are able to provide you and your firm with a “business minded approach” and medical expertise to meet your needs.
Most of our services are performed on-site and with the highest level of attention to detail that you would expect from an expert in the occupational medicine field. Philosophy:
Partnership. Often talked about, rarely delivered. Why is OHP different? For starters, we focus solely on occupational medicine. We don’t do primary care medicine. We don’t do physical therapy, surgery or MRI’s.
We also are not part of a big national chain. This means you get a local doctor, who lives in the local community and operates a business (the practice) just like you. We aren’t bound by ‘corporate policy’. We are bound by the ethics of good medicine and common sense.
Is your workplace unique? Of course it is. That is why so many of our services are customized to meet your specific situation. We do this because our only focus is serving you and your employees.
Do we have a huge clinic? NO – and for good reason. Many occupational providers invest heavily in their offices – meaning that you have to go to them. We instead focus specifically on delivering services where they are most needed – AT YOUR WORKSITE. What does all this mean for you? Occupational Health Partners helps you get:
• Just the services you need
• At the place you want it delivered
• With less hassle, bureaucracy and headaches
• And often at a lower cost than using a local urgent care or a big national chain.
We look forward to serving your needs. For a free initial consultation with our Senior Medical Director, please contact us at (919) 661-0801.
